Mother’s Day is rapidly approaching and I want to be sure that you are ready! I have put together a list of gifts any mom would love as well as some shops to look for unique items.
1. Spa Day
Whether it’s a massage or a pedi/mani, you can’t go wrong with pampering your mama.
2. Photo Gift
Shutterfly has so many amazing options that mom’s adore because they are all customizable with pictures. From coffee mugs to photo books to puzzles, throws, and pillows; you are guaranteed to find a gift that will bring a smile to your mom’s face every time she sees it.
3. Personalized Gift
Etsy and Jane both offer a multitude of gift options that can be personalized with names, dates, and special notes. I’ve personalized wooden signs, jewelry, car decals, christmas ornaments, clothing, and more over the years. Last year, my coffee loving mom and mother-in-law received this cute spoon to use for their cream and sugar. (They get to think of me every day as they drink their brain juice. 🙂 )
4. Funny Gift
If your mom has a good sense of humor and is a little bit hip, LookHuman is a place you have to check out! They have the funniest shirts, socks and mugs with cute sayings covering topics from fitness to politics to trendy tv shows and movies.
5. Themed Basket
There is something about an adorably wrapped basket full of goodies that brings me joy in both giving and receiving. Do something similar for you mom by thinking of her favorite pastime. Maybe she loves gardening, sewing, photography, painting, fitness, board games or cooking. Whatever it is, find little items you can get to pull together a themed gift. This is a great option because it helps ensure it is something she will both enjoy and use. As an example, if I were putting together a fitness goodie basket, I would think of the following: fun workout socks or tank, new water bottle, inspirational shoelace tag (check out this Etsy store for the runners in your life!)or a paid pass to that latest boutique fitness class she has been dying to try.
6. Snail Mail
Now this is a simple thing but with a big impact. In the digital age we live in, buying a stamp to mail via the post office seems almost archaic to some. But not a lot of things beat the simple pleasure of opening up your mailbox to find a colorful envelope with your name on it that isn’t a bill or junk mail. Your mom will appreciate the time you took to pick out the card, write her a note (that’s right, take the 2 minutes to write her a thank you for all she has done) and send it on time.
7. One-On-One Time with YOU!
Out of all the things you could buy her or notes you could write her for Mother’s Day, nothing will ever trump you spending quality time together. If possible, carve out an afternoon for lunch or a day for hanging out. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive— just uninterrupted. So turn off the phone and take the time to talk to your mom. Find out how she is doing, tell her what’s new in your life, reminisce about old times and most importantly, make new memories with her every chance you get.
We only get one mom, let’s make sure she knows how special she is this Mother’s Day.
